Suzanne Bates has a passion for pattern. A graphic and surface designer for 30 years, she explores textiles through hand dyeing, and hand weaving, which inspire her small-batch printed and woven editions. Textiles provide a canvas for her pattern design and a tactile and sensory connection to her work - a celebration of the joy of making.Â
about our process
From thumbnail, to sketch, to creating the artwork for my repeat patterns, I love the process of exploration and discovery. My Originals collection are the bespoke pieces made by my hands, and represent my explorations in various fibers.
Once designed, I have partnered with several manufacturers to print and weave my artwork onto silk for scarves and cotton for my throw blankets.
