Driven to Make

Posted by Suzanne Bates on

Let me introduce myself; my name is Suzanne Bates. I am one of those people who has an innate drive to want to make things with my hands. This drive to make occupies my mind from day until night, and even into my dreams while I sleep; a desire to create something that doesn't exist and to bring beauty into the world. My medium is primarily cloth; weaving, dyeing, quilting, and sewing, all make their way into my work. I get a lot of joy from making useful and pretty things. Whether weaving a handtowel, sewing a quilt, or dyeing a silk scarf, creating these things makes me happy, and hopefully, brings joy to those who use them.
